The Door Shut Behind...

The door shut behind him ... as he walked into the pub, tall and handsome, and the earth shifted under my feet when our eyes met.

The door shut behind me ... as I hopped into his car. His warm hand enveloped my icy fingers as we sped away to our lunch.

The door shut behind him ... as he stealthily stashed a sweet Valentine's card in my car for me to find later.

The door shut behind him ... as we walked into the hotel room. I turned back to find him standing just inside the room, smiling at me with the sure knowledge of an entire uninterrupted night together heating his eyes.

The door shut behind him ... as he walked into his office, finding me not waiting patiently in a chair as he'd left me; but discovering me naked and candlelit, in the middle of a large blanket, with a bottle of wine and a come-hither smile.

The door shut behind me ... as I welcomed him to my house, the aroma of a meal of seduction in the air, and the welcome stretch of a few hours to spend together before us.

The door shut behind us ... in the face of one disgruntled feline, as we bumped together slowly into the bedroom, lips still joined, hands already tugging at clothes, words of love echoing in our ears.

The door shut behind him ... as he left that day, my tears finally allowed to fall as he walked to his car, his head down, the earth shifting under our feet again.

Two doors stand open yet. The question is whether we have the courage to walk through them to greet our future - whatever that may be, and close them - even partially - behind us on our past.

wow! i hope this fairy tale's true and has a happy ending! when the love is so palpable, so powerful that it can move the earth from underneath you, i think it's definitely something to be explored. :)
