Thunder & Lightning

I used to be terrified of thunderstorms. One tell-tale flash of lightning and I would be off like a shot, hiding out in the basement with the volume on the TV up high enough to drown out all but the worst cracks of thunder. The sheer, brutal power of the storms terrified me and I had to - as in had to - hide out until they were over.

But sometime in my late thirties, that shifted. I found myself staying put and watching the storms blow through, still a bit scared, but curious too. I started to realize that I liked the thrill. I suddenly wanted to embrace the power, to experience it.

When I first started on this journey of self-discovery, I was more scared than even I knew. I was certain beyond any doubt that I had to - had to - do this for myself, that I had to explore and take control of my own sexuality since my husband would not; but I had no concept of what that would entail.

At first the thought of what I was about to do would send me scurrying, back to the safety of my home; but eventually I met Aiden, and he showed me, in one afternoon, what I had been missing. Whole worlds of pleasure opened up before me, and I finally dove in, embracing the experience.

Aiden has always known how to coax me toward a new experience... the heady mix of desire in his eyes and the right words, and I was putty in his hands. Every time we were together we pushed another boundary, either physical or emotional, and the last time (my next post - I promise) was no exception.

I'm finding myself in the eye of the storm, and loving every moment of the turbulence. Just as I stood on my deck this morning watching a welcome storm approaching, I am finding the courage to embrace the power of the thunder and lightning that is Aiden, and in allowing this bit of chaos into my life, I'm learning more about myself than I thought I ever would.

There really is something to be said for facing your fears...

I'm usually attracted by what (or who?) makes me edgy.
