No meaningful lyrics today - just the warm glow of my pride at finishing my first half-marathon.
My goal, realistically, was to finish. To work hard and leave everything on the race course and be upright and smiling at the finish. I wanted to be come in under three hours. That was when I started.
As I trained - as I started to bump up the distances, and started to get an idea for the level of pain I was in for, and for what I was capable of - I revised that goal. I took fifteen minutes off it, lowering my goal time to 2:45.
At the same time, I had a bet with a running friend. He thought I could do 2:30. I looked at the pace I would have to run and thought, 'not likely, dude'.
I'm not going to go into a lot of detail in this post - I'll write a post about the race soon - but I did want to tell you what my time was.
Actually, I won't tell you the exact time.... but I will say I came close to winning that bet. And if I'd pushed it on the hill just a little harder, I could have made it. Oh well... next year!

Awesome job, I finished my first half marathon 2 weeks ago. I found out that no matter how hard you train those last few kilometers are killers. Good Job. Your medal looks much better on you than mine does on me. Congrats again.
