Many of you are sending kids back to school today, or did so just recently, or are about to. What a great time of year - new school clothes and supplies, reconnecting with old friends, parents getting some time back during the day. (I LOVE those Staples commercials - "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"... heh... check my favorite of the bunch on the player to the right!)
I used to love going back to school. It was where I excelled, and though I was a quiet, shy kid, I had my circle of friends there that I loved.
I kind of miss that feeling - that anticipation of a new school year - even if the novelty wore off pretty fast. I was a teacher for quite a few years too - and always enjoyed that first week so much. Most of my favorite memories of school probably come from those early days in each school year. Seeing old friends, making new friends; and starting a new year, ready to learn new things.
I'm feeling the itch, lately, to learn something new. Maybe a new language, certainly a new form of yoga... something, anything!! Sometimes I lay down til that feeling goes away... but this year it's strong, and insistent. I'm going to have to give in and do something about it. I do love the idea of learning as a lifelong thing, rather than something that stops when you graduate!
And what about you, dearest readers? Anyone learning anything new this year? Literally or metaphorically speaking? Tell me all about it!
Oh, what a tangled web we weave…

I loved going back to school too! I was such a geek. I loved the smell of new binders, erasers and sharpened pencils!
I want to learn to take better care of myself and be an "upgraded version" when I hit 40! :)
My favorite part of the new school year was a fresh batch of school supplies. I could set up camp in Office Depot and never leave...
As for learning anything new...it would have to be the amount of diabetes information I've been forced to live with. Not fun, but necessary.
These 9 weeks I'm spending away from home? All about learning!
If you've stopped learning, you've stopped living, IMHO...
I'm working on playing guitar. I've been able to play a little since I was a teenager, but for the past six months or so I've been working on it seriously, and the results are gratifying.
I'm also working on new forms of body movement. Endlessly fascinating....
i loved going back not for the school bit, that i could do without but for the shopping mom would take me on and my friends i had missed over the summer.
i realized when i was older learning was fun and although i havent taken anything as of late, i will again i am sure.
